“It’s so easy for people like you”

“It’s easy for someone like you stay in shape”….What exactly does that mean? I’ve heard this a few times and it bothers me a little. If you call working out hardcore, 6 days a week, eating healthy 90% of the time and drinking a gallon of water everday, EASY…Then yes, it’s very easy. Honestly there is nothing EASY about it. You have to want a lean body. You need to believe in yourself and realize that your health and your appearance do matter. Once you realize that, it becomes a part of your daily routine, just like going to work, taking a shower, brushing your teeth..etc. You can spend the rest of your life whining about how you have no self-control or no motivation, or you can just “zip it” and do what you need to do to get in shape. I know this sounds pretty mean, but it’s the raw honest truth. I’m not going to sugar coat it. I’ve never had a super fat-burning metabolism or the ability to eat whatever I want and stay slim. I just know that I am a much happier person when I feel good about myself and I know all of my hard work is paying off. There’s no miracle pill, no drink, no injection that’s going to do for you what proper diet and exercise can. I know that not everyone’s goal is to become a fitness competitor, but I’m pretty sure you’d be happy if you were in better shape. Yes, I have slip ups, yes I get tired of working out sometimes. Heck, sometimes I dread going to the gym. But it is a part of my life that is never going to go away. Even if I get both legs amputated (knock on wood), I will be wheeling myself up and down the street for exercise. Now ask yourself honestly, are you really happy with the way you look?
